How it works
Frequently asked questions
What is a UUID?
A UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) is a 128-bit label like 6ec0bd7f-11c0-43da-975e-2a8ad9ebae0b, commonly used as database primary keys, request IDs and tokens. This tool generates version 4 (v4) UUIDs, which are fully random.
Are these UUIDs truly random?
Yes. UUIDs are built from your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues, or crypto.randomUUID when available), with the version and variant bits set per RFC 4122. They never leave your device.
What does the Uppercase option do?
UUIDs are lowercase by convention, but some systems expect uppercase. Turning on the toggle outputs every generated UUID in capital letters, e.g. 6EC0BD7F-11C0-43DA-975E-2A8AD9EBAE0B. It applies to newly generated UUIDs.
