Your total word count is divided by your reading speed in words per minute (WPM). For example, a 600-word article at 200 WPM takes 3 minutes to read.
What is a good reading speed in WPM?
The average adult reads at 200–250 WPM, while casual reading can be 150 WPM and fast readers reach 300–400 WPM. Speaking is slower — about 120–150 WPM — which is why the default speaking speed here is 130 WPM.
