Frequently asked questions
Is the percentage calculated on cost price or selling price?
On the cost price — the standard convention for profit/loss percent. Profit % = (SP − CP) ÷ CP × 100. A ₹100 item sold for ₹150 is a 50% profit on cost (not 33%, which would be the margin on the selling price).
How do I find the selling price for a 20% profit?
Switch to "Find selling price" mode, enter the cost price and 20. The tool computes SP = CP × (1 + 20/100). For CP = 100, the answer is 120.
What if the selling price equals the cost price?
Then there is no profit and no loss — the tool shows an amount of 0 and 0% with a "No profit, no loss" label.
