How it works
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The extraction library runs entirely inside your browser, so your PDF is processed on your device and never uploaded or stored anywhere.
Does it work on scanned PDFs or photos of documents?
No — this tool extracts embedded text from text-based PDFs only. It cannot read scanned images, photographs, or image-only PDFs; those need OCR (optical character recognition), which this tool does not include.
Why did I get little or no text from my PDF?
The most common reason is that the PDF contains scanned pages or images of text rather than real text. Other causes are password-protected files (unsupported) or text rendered as vector outlines. If the text is selectable when you open the PDF in a viewer, this tool will extract it.
Text-based PDFs only (no OCR) · Page-separated output · 100% local — your file never leaves this page.
