Frequently asked questions

No images were found, but my PDF clearly shows pictures. Why?

Some PDFs store pictures in ways a browser cannot recover: as vector drawings, inside pattern/form objects, as JPEG2000 images your browser cannot decode, or protected by masks. The tool extracts every image that PDF.js can decode and tells you honestly when it cannot reach the rest.

What format are extracted images saved in?

Each extracted image is saved as a PNG at its original pixel size, and can be downloaded individually or all together as a ZIP.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. Extraction happens entirely in your browser with PDF.js — your PDF never leaves this page.
